There were some major, newsworthy 2005 events reported by the esteemed publishers at the time. From the groundbreaking introduction of ‘YouTube’ to the internet in February, which has arguably changed the way of the world, to the marriage of Prince Charles of England and Camilla Parker Bowles in April, shortly after the death of Pope John Paul II.

Hurricane Katrina strikes coastal areas from Louisiana to Alabama, travelling up the entire state of Mississippi. The hurricane affects most of eastern North America and becomes the costliest hurricane in U.S. history, with $108 billion in damages. At least 1,836 people are killed.
